Abstract

This paper proposes a multi-mode drive control system for 12/10-pole switched reluctance motor. The drive control system can operate in the six-phase mode, three-phase serial, and parallel operation mode by altering the control signals based on a novel <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{N}+2$</tex> power converter and it can decrease torque ripple and copper consumption by switching to the three-phase serial mode and expand the speed range by switching to the three-phase parallel mode. The mode-switching control scheme and simulation are performed to validate the proposed multi-mode drive scheme.
