Abstract

A multigrid calculation procedure for steady, elliptic fluid flows in general curvilinear geometries is presented. The calculation procedure uses the contravariant velocities as the dependent variables in the momentum equations and solves the momentum and continuity equations simultaneously. A full multigrid algorithm with a V cycle is used. Several laminar and turbulent model problems have been calculated, and the performance of the procedure to reach a steady-state solution is investigated. Calculations with fine grids are made to demonstrate the attainment of multigrid efficiency.
