Abstract

The scientific paper published below deals with structural materials based on partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) crystals, obtained in the Prokhorov Institute of General Physics, RAS. The unique properties of the new materials determine a vast spectrum of their application. The high physical and mechanical characteristics, such as refractoriness, strength, and wear resistance, imply great prospects in the production of different articles for machine construction. Owing to their chemical and biological inertness, PSZ crystals demonstrate a high biocompatibility, which makes it possible to use them for manufacturing electrosurgical instruments for minimally invasive surgery.
