Abstract
Context (Background): In today's times, focus is on employing latest technology and knowledge in the fields of medicine and dentistry which are inexpensive, less cumbersome, and more agreeable to the patients. Ozone therapy is one such modality which has shown some promising results due to its beneficial properties like antimicrobial, antihypoxic, immune-stimulatory, biosynthetic, detoxicating, antiinflammatory, analgesic, etc. Aims: The aim of this review is to present before the readers pertinent information regarding the use of ozone in dentistry. Settings and Design: A thorough review of all indexed articles as well as information from official websites pertaining to the use of ozone in medicine and dentistry was conducted. Materials and Methods: The information form articles and websites was reviewed critically and the results and findings presented in an unbiased manner. Results and Conclusions: Ozone therapy has been more beneficial than present conventional therapeutic modalities. This would be of importance to future researchers in terms of the potential clinical applications of ozone.
