Abstract
Day by day with the advancement in the field of dentistry, a new treatment protocol are budding to provide human ailment in a much natural better and simpler way. One such advancement is the application of Ozone in dentistry. Ozone is a protective layer in the environment is also used for the treatment of disease in medicine and dentistry. It has various properties including analgesics, immunostimulant and antimicrobial properties. The uses of Ozone in dentistry are many from gingival disease, infection control, temporomandibular disease, radiation induced mucositis, lichen planus e.t.c. ozone is generated by 3 different systems. A) ultraviolet system produces in low concentrations of ozone used in esthetic, air purification. B) cold plasma system used in air & water purification. C) corona discharge system produces high concentration of ozone. The route of ozone administration is topical or loco regional in gaseous or aquous form or as ozonated olive or sun flower oil.
