Abstract
GC-MED (GC with microwave emission detection) in combination with capillary column simulated distillation provides multielement information about hydrocarbon mixtures as a function of boiling point. The technique may rapidly determine the boiling point of each percent carbon, hydrogen, and sulfur evolved. The technique also may determine the H/C molar ratio and approximate CHS elemental formulae at each 1 percent carbon evolved.
