Abstract
In 1997 Petrobras, the national oil company of Brazil, offered fifty seven exploration and ninety two producing opportunities for joint venture participation, to the outside Oil and Gas Industry (Figure 1). Companies were given guidelines for expressing interest in specific blocks, a firstpass Petrobras review of the requests was made, and then data was released to the selected participants. Approximately two months was allotted by Petrobras for an initial evaluation and determination of prospectivity. If interest continued on a block, an additional two months was given for a more detailed analysis. This paper is a result of the multi-disciplinary and cross-functional geophysical work done by Mobil in evaluating several offerings in the Campos Basin, Offshore, Deepwater, Brazil.
