Abstract

Two new classes of Carrier Sense Sense Multiple Access schemes for local area networks containing several parallel broadcast channels are proposed and analyzed from the point of view of the total network throughout. With the first class of protocols several copies of the same packet can be transmitted on different channels, thus trying to improve the probability of successful transmission. With the second class of protocols it is possible to immediately reschedule on a different channel packets that either could not be transmitted because the channel was busy or collided.
