Abstract

The increased penetration of wind power leads to increasingly frequent energy exchange between the electricity network and the natural gas network in multi-area. In this context, a multi-area coordinated planning model of the integrated electricity and natural gas systems (IENGSs) considering the spatial correlation of wind power is proposed. Firstly, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) based k-means scenario cluster method, which considers both the spatial correlation characteristics and the extreme scenarios, is proposed. Secondly, based on the typical wind power scenarios generated by the PSO based k-means method, a multi-area coordinated planning model of the IENGSs is established. This model can optimize the capacities of the wind turbines, the substations, the gas gates, the gas turbines and the power to gas in the multi-area IENGSs coordinately. Finally, the test case system is used to verify the proposed model. The results of the case study show that the model is effective.
