Abstract
Abstract This paper illustrates the design of closed-loop controllers operating High Voltage Back to Back three-phase converter for frequency stabilization and power quality improvement. Simulations of the converter with Multi-frequency control with the proposed Fuzzy-2DOFPI (two degrees of freedom) are carried out in Simulink/MATLAB. Performance parameters such as frequency stabilization and source voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) are considered for comparison of the controllers with conventional ones. The fuzzy-tuned 2DOFPI controller with multi-frequency provides a better result, with a source-voltage THD of 0.23% and acts as a source-side filter for the converter. Finally, the fuzzy-tuned 2DOFPI with multi-frequency controller combination is implemented in an OPAL-RT 5650 real-time simulator for experimental validation of power quality enhancement and frequency stabilization.
