Abstract
ABSTRACTA single-inductor-multi-output boost converter is presented to boost the low voltage generated by the photovoltaic and thermoelectric generator for the body sensor nodes. A modified single charging single discharging control combined constant on-time control and adaptive output priority is proposed to achieve a good transient response. The adaptive output priority is determined by a hungry algorithm, which just senses the output voltages of the presented converter. Furthermore, an exponentially weighted moving average algorithm is introduced to choose the solar, thermal or stored energy as the supply source. Moreover, the presented converter is self-powered by its own output after starting-up. Finally, the presented converter is designed and verified in the CSMC CMOS 0.18µm 1P6M process.
