Abstract

This paper describes in detail the three guyots in the Gulf of Alaska. The form of these features has been charted from total bottom coverage bathymetric surveys using swath mapping sonar. Data were collected by the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office. Statements and descriptions of the geomorphology of these guyots — Welker, Durgin and Pratt — are used to speculate on the ultimate demise of the Juan de Fuca hot spot.
