Abstract
ABSTRACT This article examines the partnership between the public library in Long Branch, New Jersey and Monmouth University School of Social Work and how these entities collaborate to meet the varied social service needs of library patrons. The objectives of the article are to introduce the concept of public libraries as an MSW field placement site and explain how such placements can address the needs of vulnerable and oppressed patrons. The article also discusses the potential benefits, challenges and considerations for schools of social work interested in placing MSW students in public libraries.
