Abstract
The Mössbauer effect has been used to study electron transfer between Fe II and Fe III in the mixed valence compounds Fe II Fe 2 III (CH 3COO) 6. O. 5H 2O and Fe II Fe 2 III (CH 3COO) 6. O. py 3·5. The temperature dependence of their Mössbauer spectra provides evidence of the increasing importance of thermal electron transfer with increasing temperature.
