Abstract

Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) activity of pituitaries from rats receiving hypothalamic extracts was increased as compared with controls. The hypothalamic extracts also lightened frogs previously darkened by removal of the hypothalamic region. These results further support the concept of the existence of a hypothalamic factor which inhibits the release of MSH from the pituitary.
