Abstract

"This essay is a review of notes taken for an early tribute to the figure of the Canarian anthropologist Fernando Estévez, written between 2016 and 2017. As more than five years have gone by since he passed away, we believe it is a good time to review what has been grouped together of his work here, not only because of its bibliographical and documentary nature, but also because of the open proposals around the “connector” of this revision work: to investigate the concept of identity, especially in the Canary Islands, a territory marked by the processes of globalization associated with tourism, the patrimonialization of culture and the presence of migrants negatively represented in identity narratives."
