Abstract

Pancoast tumors or superior pulmonary sulcus tumors (SSTs) are a rare subgroup of non-small cell lung carcinomas and occur in about 3-5% in patients with lung cancer. It is one of the most challenging thoracic malignancy to treat because of their proximity to vital structure in the thoracic inlet. In the last two decades improvements in appropriate preoperative staging, in multimodality treatment and development of new operative techniques have resulted in more curative treatment and better long-term results.
