Abstract
A time domain boundary element method (TDBEM) has its original features in a time domain microwave simulation, which are not found in a finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, owing to its surface meshing. However, it is known that the 3-D TDBEM requires extremely large memory compared with the FDTD method. This situation has been preventing the TDBEM from being used widely in practical applications. To enhance the practical use of the TDBEM, an efficient memory saving method based on the compressed row storage (CRS), which is suitable for a message passing interface parallel processing of the TDBEM is presented in this paper. It is shown that the CRS matrix compression provides us not only memory reduction but also speedup of calculation time.
