Abstract

Male urethral strictures that recur early (within 3-6 months) after urethral dilation (UD) or internal urethrotomy (IU) and are treated with UD or IU repeated two or more times have an extremely low stricture-free rate (SFR) beyond 2 years' follow up. However, repeated UD or IU continues to be used in a substantial proportion of men with recurrent strictures. The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors determining the use of repeated UD or IU in the treatment of recurrent strictures.
