Abstract

Simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation reduces long-term morbidity and mortality in patients with diabetic nephropathy when compared with dialysis. Pancreas transplantation requires bladder or enteric drainage of pancreatic exocrine secretion. Bladder drainage is associated with a higher frequency of urological complications. In the present study, we evaluated the incidence of urological complications after simultaneous renal and pancreatic transplantation.
