Abstract

It is somewhat surprising that, in the 16-year lifetime of “Microwave Bytes,” the so-called Doherty power amplifier (DPA) seems to have missed the “Bytes” boat. This is indeed surprising, in view of the fact that the DPA has been the most widely researched and implemented RFPA technique in the mobile communications era. What follows here is not intended as a belated dissertation on the entire subject (this topic has certainly generated more than its fair share of those!) but, instead, some observations that could be filed under the general dictum, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
