Abstract
Preview: [This paper proposes a model of professional development designed to meet the needs of social workers working in host agencies. The model was initially developed for practitioners working in school settings where traditional social work supervision is often not readily available and has wide applicability. Professional development is reframed as a mosaic of strategies accessed in different configurations over time in response to the educational, administrative and support needs of each social worker. Workers develop an individualized plan using client-focused and agency-focused supervision, individual and peer group consultations, inservices, conferences, professional reading and self-study programs to meet their professional development needs.
