Abstract

Santics poetics is marked with intimate emotion of melancholy and selfless love for the people. His existential profile is presented in his poems which determines him as a man of poetry, besides that, interpreters of his work, like I. Sekulic, have not missed to notice that he is 'a poet of soft, pious and honest feelings'. Goal of this paper is to show that in Santics poetry there are dominant religious themes and motifs. Even though there are ones who found that Santic has produced one or two better spiritual and religious poems for us it is of significance that religious motifs have been noticed. In this paper, like in papers similar to this, we strive to recognize religious themes and motifs in Santics poetry and mark them as one of the important poetic outline of this poet.
