Abstract
Motivation of teachers has been a prime concern ofUniversity administrations. It is a quality that students, teachers, parents,University administrator, and other members of the community must have if oureducational system is to prepare young people adequately for the challenges anddemands of the coming century. Human motivation then, is the process wherebythe behavior of an individual is energized, sustained and diverted in order tomeet individual needs and achieve organizational objectives. The goal of thisstudy was to investigate the motivation techniques used by the needs ofUniversities, to examine the views of teachers about the effective andineffective motivational techniques used by their heads and to find out theimpact of motivation techniques used by the heads on the performance ofteachers. For choosing the sample from this population, random sampling typewas used. The sample constituted of 100 male and 100 female. Questionnaireswere used as research instruments for collection of data. To analyze the datachi-square as a contingency test and percentage were used.
