Abstract

The article discusses the issues of developing students’ motivation to study Russian as a foreign language (RFL), their stimulation to communicate in the target language using the textbook. Based on an analysis of modern trends in language education and current research in the field of development of RFL textbooks, the authors added principles for selecting and organizing the content of the textbook, affecting its two important components: the text array and the activity component, and contributing to the creation of an educational process that is interesting and personally significant for students. The proposed principles: simultaneous development of skills and abilities, full orientation in activity, co-creation, interactivity, multicultural orientation and multidimensionality of sociolinguocultural information are illustrated with examples of tasks from textbooks on RFL, which most fully correspond to the author’s concept
