Abstract
Abstract The origin of the motion picture lens is traced to the modern state of the art. Motion picture camera lenses of all types are detailed with schematics. Image formation, effective focal length, photometry, depth of field, image aberrations, antireflection, stray‐light reduction, and camera formats are explained. Projection lenses are examined by prime and anamorphic lenses with details of wide‐screen systems. Video camera lenses and types are studied by the following, commercial and consumer plus projectors from consumer to high‐end. The article concludes with video conferencing and security/surveillance camera lenses.
