Abstract

Introducing an external electric field could induce surface modification and improve the morphology of poly (3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM) blend film. The electric field is applied on P3HT PCBM during the fabrication of the inverted bulkherterojunction (BHJ) of solar cells. This study focuses on the surface morphology changing after this process. With the electric field, the current density is improved from 8.90 mA/cm2 to 9.70 mA/cm2 and the efficiency is increased from 3.14% to 3.35%. We observed that the morphology of active layer is affected by the intensity of external electric field, and analyzed the performance of PVDs. This finding provides interface engineering in organic materials and achieves higher power conversion efficiency for organic solar cells.
