Abstract
Perhaps particularly in the westernworld, the contents and scope ofmorality (and hence of moral education) are commonly conceived inKantian and/or utilitarian terms, and restricted to the virtues of justiceand benevolence. The basic idea is that there are a number of palpableand fairly obvious goods, to which all people have an equal right, andwhich moral principles are required to promote or maintain.
