Abstract

This talk describes two MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) being created at Harvey Mudd College for two Advanced Placement courses that are not available at many high schools across the country, namely Introduction to Computer Science and Physics C (Mechanics with Calculus). While individual students will be able to take a course and then receive credit by writing an AP exam, our primary goal is to assist less experienced teachers in offering one of these courses at their own school. Each MOOC will showcase faculty‐student interaction and provide automatic grading for assignments. We also plan to feature a diverse group of students in order to attract more under‐represented groups to STEM education.
