We discuss the possibility that magnetic monopoles from electromagnetically bound systems (monopolic atoms) with atomic nuclei. By taking into account the Rubakov effect we find that a monopole passing through matter should catalyze a proton decay every few microns. Bounds on monopole fluxes and densities are derived.
