Abstract
Indications of self-monitoring of blood glucoseAll patients with diabetes who use insulin and some patients with drugs that can cause hypoglycemia should perform self-monitoring of blood glucose levels, which is a tool that helps maintain safe blood glucose control aimed at the individual goals of each patient. Frequency of self-monitoring of blood glucoseTime and frequency of self-monitoring should be determined individually for each patient depending on the type of diabetes, prescribed treatment, degree of glycemic control and the individual's ability to use information and modify behaviors or adjust treatment. It is necessary that patients learn to perform, record the results, interpret the data and take appropriate action according to the same.
