Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in the competency level of dental hygiene students and evaluate the a competency-based curriculum. Methods: A survey was conducted on the self-assessment 29 students from second to fourth grades in the Department of Dental Hygiene. Results: Both core and detailed competencies improved smoothly over the semester, and at the end of the second semester of the fourth-grade students, all competencies improved to a level of eight points or more. Conclusions: The findings confirmed that the level of self-competency evaluation was improved according to the target curriculum, and the overall class operation was evaluated positively.
