Abstract

It has been notable the implementation of new generation systems based in non-conventional energy sources. Distributed generation and automation of the networks have been introduced on the electrical infrastructure. Currently the information systems play an important role for application of new solutions in monitoring and control of power systems. It is notable how the SCADA systems have been improved constantly in order to bring solutions for remote operation of the networks. The concept of State Estimation is part of the new features in SCADA systems, where it contributes for development of automation schemes and diagnostic of information systems. Engineers need real time simulation for implementation of new solutions in automation, monitoring and control systems. The present work describes the importance of real time simulation and how it is used for validation of the new automation schemes. An SCADA system using ETAP Real-Time allows to implement State Estimation, it is validated using real time simulation with OPAL-RT technologies, where it has been possible develop an equivalent model for emulation of the network.
