Abstract
The practice of money politics is a phenomenon that often occurs in general elections in Indonesia, including in the face of the 2024 election. Before voting is carried out by voters, during the campaign period, there is a provision of basic necessities to constituents to gain their support. This article tries to formulate the reasons behind the still rampant practice of money politics in holding simultaneous elections in 2024. The method of literature research is used by referring to various related articles. The findings of this article show that the practice of money politics in Indonesian elections has become part of a culture that is difficult to eliminate and has become so ingrained, that it will damage the level of public or constituent trust in the candidate and party concerned. High political costs also open the door wide for corrupt practices that tend to justify all means through the party's transactional approach.
