Abstract

Kidney fibrosis is a final common pathway of progressive chronic kidney diseases, and is characterized by the increase of interstitial fibroblasts and myofibroblasts, and the excessive production and accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, such as collagens and fibronectins, within the kidney.
