Abstract
For the Asian region, data regarding solid organ transplantation has been only limited in some countries or individual centers. Some Asian countries have developed their own nationwide registration system, however, international registry which covers and focuses Asian region have not been developed. It is one of the most urgent and import issues that Asian society of transplantation (AST) has resolved to address and solve. In 2017, the AST council has formed a registry committee with members of the society who have past experience with running registries in their country. Following this decision, two kinds of database were developed. The first is the collection of yearly summarized fast-track data of each participating county, which is named as ASTREG-N (Asian Society of Transplantation Registry-Nationwide level). The second is the collection of kidney transplant recipient’s and donor’s data from the individual centers, which is named as ASTREG-H (Asian Society of Transplantation Registry-Hospital level). At the current moment, India, South Korea, Japan, Phillipines, Mongolia, and Myanmar joined the ASTREG-N. ASTREG-N will share each country’s meta-data of solid organ transplantation, such as total transplantation number, number of deceased donor. For the ASTREG-H, currently South Korea, Philippines, Mongolia and Myanmar joined to the project. Some countries which are under strict privacy law (for example, Japan), meta-analysis based on common data model will be applied. A web-based data entry platform have been developed, which has real-time data visualization system and automated data verification system. ASTREG-H platform is designed to aid developing countries and transplant centers who does not have their own data collection system. Asian society of transplantation registry (ASTREG) is a collaborative project which will be the representative solid organ transplantation database in Asian region. It will help the harmonization of transplantation data in Asian region.
