Abstract

A detailed study of momentum and longitudinal momentum spectra of slow protons, deuterons, and pions produced in proton–emulsion (p–Em) interactions at 400 GeV, and π?p and π−C interactions at 40 GeV has been made. Striking differences in the results of different particles in both hadron–nucleon and hadron–nucleus interactions are obtained and the production mechanism of the particles is discussed.
