Abstract

In our article ‘Molecular complexity orchestrates modulation of phagosome biogenesis and escape to the cytosol of Macrophages by Francisella tularensis’ (Asare and Abu Kwaik, 2010), we utilized the 3050 multiple allele insertion mutants library that was developed, arrayed and published by Gallagher and colleagues (Gallagher et al., 2007). The designation of the mutants in our report was based on the arrayed library as published by the authors who developed it. The mutant library was deposited by Gallagher and colleagues into BEI Resources (http://www.beiresources.org), which was the source of the mutant arrays used in our studies. There was no information available to us that the arrays have been changed by BEI Resources from what has been published. This has resulted in our incorrect designation of the mutants in our report, as they should be based on the BEI arrays and not on the published arrays by Gallagher and colleagues. We have confirmed this by sequence analyses of the insertion mutations within ∼ 20 randomly selected mutants from the mutant library, and all the insertion mutations matched the arrays of the BEI resources and not what has been published by Gallagher and colleagues. Therefore, a revised version of table 1 from our paper is now shown as Table S1 in which we list the reported incorrect mutant designations side by side with the correct mutant designations, as listed by BEI. Table S2 shows the correct functional designation of the mutants. Table S1. List of growth defective mutants in both U937 and S2 Cells. Table S2. New correct list of growth defective mutants in U937 cells according to their functional categories.
