Abstract
Modern molecular beam studies of chemical reaction dynamics aim at determining the structure and dynamics of transition states and reaction intermediates directly from the experimental data. The experimental and theoretical progress which is being made in this endeavour is now revealing the essential unity of spectroscopic and reaction dynamics in the molecular systems which govern high temperature combustion and atmospheric photochemistry.
