Abstract
Dry and wet barley grains intimately mixed, quickly reached a mean equilibrium moisture content. Ninety percent of the total possible exchange occurred within 3 days in mixtures of one part of barley at 7% moisture content and three parts at 23% moisture content. The exchange of moisture was more rapid at 20°C than at 10°C, but at both temperatures there was a hysteresis of about 1% moisture content 28 days after mixing.
