Abstract

Using in vivo voltammetry, dopaminergic (DAergic) activity in the nucleus accumbens (ACG) was assessed following microinjection of DAergic agonists and antagonists in the amygdala (AMY). It was found that DAergic activity in the ACC was under the inhibitory influence of DAergic transmission in the AMY. Therefore, it can be suggested that there is a functional interdependence between the activity of these two DAergic pathways originating from the ventral mesencephalic region.
