Abstract
The influence of the amplitude and phase of the complex coupling coefficient on the modulation bandwidth in distributed feedback (DFB) waveguide dielectric lasers is analyzed. We consider two cases: when the imaginary part of the coupling coefficient is mode intensity dependent (gain coupling) and when this part is mode intensity independent (loss coupling). The differences of the modulation bandwidth between the loss and gain coupling are shown for planar and fiber waveguide laser structures.
