Abstract
The influence of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) on the mechanical performance of epoxy reinforced with carbon textile was investigated. Initially, the impact of using MWCNT and its concentration on the tensile and flexural properties of the epoxy were studied. Then, the optimum concentration was applied to reinforce the epoxy and make a composite of carbon textile with five layers. It was found that an increase in the MWCNT concentration results in the enhancement of the mechanical performance of the epoxy composites. Moreover, the incorporation of 0.15 wt% epoxy, MWCNTs in the epoxy reinforced with carbon textile improve its tensile and flexural behaviour approximately by 7.56 and 8.63%, respectively, in comparison with the carbon textile composite. However, the composite weight increment is negligible.
