Abstract

The Krebs model for bcc metals is modified (a) to remove its well known deficiency of crystal inequilibrium in a simple and consistent manner, and (b) to include the factors like inference factorG 2 and dielectric function e(q) on the lines of recent reporting. The modified Krebs model thus developed is employed to derive the dispersion frequencies in bcc zirconium, for which the phonon energies have been measured very recently. The reasonable good agreement between the theoretical and experimental dispersion relations in β-Zr reveals the utility of the model.
