Abstract
The existing beam profile monitor system at VICKSI is based on the display of the beam current that hits a rotating wire loop. The lower limit of the range of useful application is at beam intensities of about 1 nA. By the use of microchannel plate detectors this limit can be lowered by 2–3 orders of magnitude.
