Abstract

ABSTRACT The classical description of the elastic field of an edge dislocation is modified by the addition of a line force to the Burgers vector. Also, partitioning of displacements is imposed, consistent with the topological theory of defects at interfaces, agreeing with symmetry requirements as are inherent in nonlinear or atomistic calculations. Much of the classical theory is unchanged. However, displacement fields and image effects differ.
