Modern Ukrainian Ethno-design of Interior: Dynamics and World Recognition

Abstract

The aim of the research is to perform an overview of the works of Ukrainian environment designers, a brief study of recognition of Ukrainian ethno-design in the world, and to supply practical recommendations for artistic and design work using Ukrainian ethnic motifs based on the ideas of the designers. The research methodology includes methods of complex analysis and synthesis of the data from available sources, as well as facts from design events. The basic sources of the analytics were thematic internet sources containing information on various events in the sphere of design with its rapidly changing trends and active transformations. The novelty of the research. The article contains thorough analysis of the works of Ukrainian designers in creating interiors in Ukrainian ethno-style. Main stages of formation of Ukrainian ethno-design, which are marked by creating significant professional projects, have been considered in the article. The research claims that the process of formation of Ukrainian design is becoming a noticeable and recognizable phenomenon in world design space. Also, specific features of Ukrainian ethno-design have been outlined in the article, and practical recommendations for Ukrainian designers to be used in their artistic and project work have been given. Moreover, the author of the article proves the importance of this process for creating authentic material culture and its demand for Ukrainian consumers. Conclusions. Over the last decade Ukrainian design has changed significantly and can boast notable achievements. In the last six year time leading designers and design studios which created significant projects in modern Ukrainian ethno-style have been identified. The success of these projects contributes to the recognition and respect of Ukrainian ethno-design environment on the world arena among professional design community. The concept and practice of Ukrainian ethno-design is to become the foundation for the revival of cultural and spiritual values, self-identification and vision of our own place in global cultural and artistic space.
