Abstract
Aim. To determine the status and trends in crop area segmentation of spring barley domestic and foreign varieties in Vinnytsia region.Material of research. The information base for the study was given by the State Agricultural Inspection in Vinnytsia Region.Discussion of results. There was a decline of demand on market of spring barley and crop areas in Vinnytsia region. Increasing competition caused reducing the number of varieties sown on 16 names, including 5 domestic varieties and 11 foreign ones.Segment of domestic varieties of spring barley in the region was characterized by a large number of varieties (in average for research period 36 names that is 69.2% of total number) that occupied most of crop area (75.5%). Segment of foreign spring barley varieties consisted of smaller number of varieties (16 names or 30.8%) which occupied minority of the area (24.5%).Demand for spring barley varieties of domestic breeding has decreased and area for the varieties has reduced by 17.2 thousand hectares. Area for the varieties of foreign breeding has reduced by 3.6 thousand hectares. It has led to the reduction of the share for domestic varieties of spring barley in total area (of 75.1% to 72.1%), but increase for foreign spring barley varieties (of 24.9 to 27.9%). It was established that in Vinnytsia region the decrease of spring barley areas was just in a segment of domestic varieties.Conclusions. On the agrarian market of Vinnytsia region segment of domestic spring barley varieties is more with foreign varieties being less.
