Abstract

The issues of treatment of obstructive diseases of the ureter occupy a central place in pediatric urology. Some authors limit themselves to conservative therapy, others perform nephroureterectomy in a unilateral process, and prefer uretero–, pyelo–, nephro– or cystostomy in a bilateral process, and still others are persistently looking for ways of radical treatment. Reconstructive plastic surgery on the upper urinary tract is one of the most difficult sections of childhood surgery. Their successful implementation depends not only on the skill of the surgeon and the choice of an adequate option for plastic surgery, but also on the morphological and functional changes in the kidney and upper urinary tract by the time of intervention.
