Abstract

Since the discovery of graphene and its derivatives in 2004, they are one of the most promising materials because of their broad potential applications in several fields, industrial, agricultural, biotechnological, biomedical, tissue engineering and many other areas. Graphene has unique two-dimensional planar structure, exceptional physical — chemical nature, great biocompatibility and novel electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties that lead to many potential applications. In this review, we present an overview of modern biomedical applications of graphene with a special attention to drug delivery, gene delivery, cancer therapy, biosensing, antibacterial materials and scaffold for cell culture.
